Iran has announced the formation of an interim leadership council following the reported death of Ali Khamenei. The development comes after a joint US-Israel military operation allegedly targeted high-level leadership within the country. Authorities in Tehran moved swiftly to name temporary figures to maintain political stability and prevent a power vacuum at a critical moment.

According to Iranian officials, the leadership council will oversee state affairs while broader consultations take place regarding long-term governance. The announcement was broadcast on state media, emphasizing continuity of government and national unity amid escalating regional tensions.

Meanwhile, in Israel, emergency responders confirmed that nine people were killed after a missile strike hit the city of Beit Shemesh. Medical services at the scene described widespread destruction to residential areas, with rescue teams continuing to search through debris for possible survivors.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for targeting the USS Abraham Lincoln, stating that four ballistic missiles were launched toward the US aircraft carrier. Iranian state media portrayed the attack as a direct response to what it described as aggression against the country's leadership.

Missile strikes have also been reported across several Gulf states, including Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Doha in Qatar, as well as in Bahrain and Kuwait. Regional authorities are assessing the extent of damage while heightening security measures across strategic locations.

Iran has vowed what it called "the most devastating offensive operation" against US bases and Israel. In response, US President Donald Trump warned that any further escalation would be met with force "never seen before." He also urged Iranian citizens to "take back" their country, intensifying rhetoric on both sides.

Analysts say it remains unclear whether the latest bombardment will reignite anti-government protests inside Iran. Earlier this year, thousands of demonstrators were reportedly killed during nationwide unrest. Observers suggest that while tensions are at a historic high, the long-term political consequences for Iran are still uncertain.
