Iran Delays State Funeral For Ayatollah Khamenei Amid Ongoing Strikes
Iran has postponed the planned three-day state funeral for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei just hours before the ceremony was scheduled to begin in Tehran.

The funeral was set to commence this evening at the grand mosque in the capital. However, with continued Israeli and American airstrikes targeting the city, authorities announced that the event would be rescheduled.

Organisers stated that the postponement was made "in anticipation of an unprecedented turnout," noting that additional time was needed to ensure adequate infrastructure and security arrangements.

Iranian state television confirmed the development, saying: "The farewell ceremony for the martyred Imam has been postponed. The new date will be announced later."

Earlier, Hojjatoleslam Mahmoudi, head of Iran's Islamic Propagation Council, had outlined plans for a three-day farewell ceremony to be followed by a funeral procession. He said members of the public would be allowed to pay their respects to the late Supreme Leader at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall beginning at 10pm (6:30pm UK time).

"The Mosalla (prayer hall) will be receiving visitors, and the dear people can attend and participate in the farewell ceremony and once again demonstrate a strong presence," he was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

Following Khamenei's death, Iranian authorities also declared an official 40-day mourning period along with a seven-day national holiday.
