Abbas Commends Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for Palestine Support

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has expressed deep appreciation for the honorable and unwavering positions of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in their continued support for the Palestinian people's legitimate struggle for freedom and independence.

Abbas particularly welcomed the joint statement released at the conclusion of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He described the statement as a strong reflection of shared principles and a unified vision in addressing the long-standing Palestinian issue with seriousness and responsibility.

The joint declaration reaffirmed the firm positions of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye regarding Palestine, emphasizing the urgent need to consolidate the existing ceasefire. It stressed the importance of ending the occupation of Gaza in order to prevent further humanitarian suffering and regional instability.

In addition, the statement underscored the necessity of enabling the Palestinian Authority to resume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip. This step, it noted, is essential for restoring governance, delivering humanitarian aid effectively, and ensuring long-term stability in the territory.

Both countries also reiterated their strong support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. The proposed state would have East Jerusalem as its capital, reflecting internationally recognized resolutions and legal frameworks.

The declaration aligned fully with international law and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, reaffirming a commitment to a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution. Abbas praised these positions as vital contributions toward achieving peace, justice, and dignity for the Palestinian people.
