Preparing For The Blessed Last Ten Nights Of Ramadan

The holy month of Ramadan has now reached its seventeenth day, which means the most special and blessed part of the month is very close. Muslims around the world eagerly wait for the last ten nights because they carry great spiritual rewards. These nights are a time when believers increase their acts of worship, reflect deeply on their faith, and seek Allah's mercy and forgiveness.

It was reported by Aishah bint Abi Bakr (RA) that when the final ten nights of Ramadan began, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would increase his devotion. She said he would tighten his waist cloth, spend the night in worship, and wake up his family so they could also pray and remember Allah. This hadith is recorded in the famous collections of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, showing the importance the Prophet placed on these nights.

During these final nights lies a very special night known as Laylat al-Qadr, also called the Night of Decree. Allah mentions this powerful night in the Qur'an in Surah Al-Qadr. It is a night filled with mercy, blessings, and forgiveness, when angels descend and prayers are accepted.

Allah says in the Qur'an:
لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ
Meaning: "The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months." (Qur'an 97:3). This means that worship performed on this single night is greater than worship performed for more than eighty-three years, making it one of the greatest opportunities for believers.

As these blessed nights approach, Muslims are encouraged to prepare themselves spiritually. This can be done by increasing night prayers (Qiyām al-Layl), reciting and reflecting on the Qur'an, making sincere du'ā, giving charity, and asking Allah for forgiveness. These acts bring a believer closer to Allah and help purify the heart.

We should also remember that many people who fasted with us last year are no longer alive to witness this Ramadan. Therefore, we must not allow these precious nights to pass like ordinary nights. May Allah allow us to reach the last ten nights of Ramadan, grant us the blessings of Laylatul Qadr, accept our worship, and forgive our sins. اللهم بلغنا ليلة القدر ووفقنا لقيامها إيمانًا واحتسابًا. 🤲🌙
