The Iranian Red Crescent Society has filed a formal complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing the United States and Israel of carrying out attacks that may amount to war crimes. The humanitarian organisation said the strikes reportedly targeted civilian areas and facilities meant for humanitarian work inside Iran.

According to the organisation, the complaint was sent in a letter dated March 7, 2026, and addressed to the ICC prosecutor in The Hague. The letter explained that several locations hit during the attacks included residential neighborhoods and humanitarian service centres.

The Iranian Red Crescent said it wants the ICC to open a formal investigation into the alleged incidents. The group believes the attacks may violate international humanitarian law, which protects civilians and aid workers during armed conflicts.

In its request, the organisation urged the court to start a criminal examination into the situation. It said the appeal was submitted as part of its humanitarian responsibility and its commitment to the rules governing the protection of civilians during war.

The letter also explained that the organisation relied on established international humanitarian law principles when filing the complaint. These laws require all parties involved in conflicts to avoid targeting civilian populations and humanitarian infrastructure.

To support its request, the Iranian Red Crescent said it gathered evidence from its relief workers, operational reports, and data collected after the attacks. The organisation believes these records can help investigators determine whether the reported strikes violated international law.
