Erdogan Hosts Jordan’s King Abdullah to Strengthen Regional Cooperation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warmly received Jordan's King Abdullah II in Istanbul for an official visit that reflects the enduring diplomatic ties between the two nations. The meeting, held at the historic Dolmabahce Palace, symbolized mutual respect and a shared commitment to cooperation in a rapidly changing Middle East.

The visit began with a private one-on-one discussion between the two leaders, allowing them to address key bilateral and regional matters candidly. This was followed by expanded talks involving senior officials from both countries, signaling the seriousness and strategic importance attached to the engagement.

High-ranking Turkish officials in attendance included Defence Minister Yasar Guler, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, and Presidential Adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic. Their participation underscored Türkiye's intention to deepen institutional collaboration with Jordan across multiple sectors.

Central to the discussions was the strengthening of Türkiye–Jordan relations, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, security, education, and cultural exchange. Both leaders emphasized that the long-standing historical and cultural bonds between their peoples provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation and mutual benefit.

Regional stability featured prominently in the talks, with special attention given to the ongoing situation in Palestine. Erdogan and King Abdullah reaffirmed their shared stance on supporting peace, justice, and the rights of the Palestinian people, viewing cooperation as essential to addressing broader regional challenges.

The leaders also reflected positively on existing agreements, including the Free Trade Agreement and Visa Exemption Agreement, which have enhanced economic ties and people-to-people interactions. Overall, the visit highlighted the strong brotherly relationship between Türkiye and Jordan and their joint resolve to promote stability, prosperity, and unity in the Middle East.
