Dubai Airport Gradually Reopens After Drone Attack Disrupts Flights

Dubai International Airport has started gradually resuming flight operations after a drone attack forced authorities to temporarily suspend activities at the airport. Officials advised passengers to contact their airlines for the latest updates before traveling to the airport, as flight schedules may still change while operations return to normal.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the attack caused a fire after a drone hit a fuel tank near the airport. Emergency teams quickly responded and successfully contained the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, although airport operations were briefly halted for safety reasons.

Emirates announced that it would resume flights on a limited schedule after 10 a.m. local time because many earlier flights had been cancelled. The airline also informed passengers that affected travelers would receive cancellation notices and guidance about rebooking or alternative travel arrangements.

Due to the disruption, some aircraft were redirected to Al Maktoum International Airport. Travelers were advised to remain in contact with their airlines for updates on their flight status. Airport authorities emphasized that safety checks were necessary before returning the airport to full operations.

The drone attack came amid rising tensions related to the ongoing US–Israel–Iran conflict. Iranian officials had earlier warned about potential threats involving major ports in the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant escalation that could affect neighboring countries and regional infrastructure.

Other incidents were also reported across the Gulf region. In Abu Dhabi, missile debris struck a vehicle in the Al-Bahyah area, killing a Palestinian resident. Meanwhile, authorities in Fujairah worked to control another fire linked to a drone attack. Since the conflict escalated in late February, Gulf states have faced thousands of missile and drone threats targeting military bases, airports, oil facilities, and other important infrastructure.
