Six Important Rights Every Muslim Owes Fellow Muslim Daily

Assalaamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. Islam teaches Muslims to live in love, unity, and brotherhood. One of the beautiful teachings of Islam is the six rights that every Muslim owes another Muslim. These rights were explained by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a hadith reported by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and recorded in Sahih Muslim. These rights help strengthen relationships and build a caring Muslim community.

The first right is to greet another Muslim when you meet them. Saying Assalaamu Alaikum spreads peace, love, and blessings among Muslims, whether you know the person or not. The second right is to accept an invitation when a fellow Muslim invites you, as long as the gathering does not involve disobedience to Allah. Accepting invitations builds unity and removes pride and arrogance from the heart.

The third right is to give sincere advice when a Muslim asks for counsel. A Muslim should be honest and caring when giving advice, putting themselves in the other person's situation. The fourth right is to respond when a Muslim sneezes and says Alhamdulillah by replying Yarhamukallah. This simple act shows care and reminds both Muslims to remember Allah in everyday life.

The fifth right is to visit a Muslim when they are sick. Visiting the sick brings comfort, strengthens brotherhood, and earns great reward from Allah. Even if one cannot visit physically, calling or sending a message to check on the sick person shows kindness and concern, which is highly encouraged in Islam.

The sixth right is to follow the funeral procession when a Muslim dies. Attending a funeral reminds believers about death, encourages them to pray for the deceased, and strengthens community support for the grieving family. It also brings great reward and helps Muslims remember the importance of preparing for the hereafter.

These six rights are not just recommendations; they are important duties that bring reward when fulfilled and sin when neglected. Muslims should reflect on their daily actions and try to practice these rights sincerely. May Allah guide us, protect us, increase us in knowledge and piety, and make us better Muslims and better members of society. Ameen.
