Nigeria Army Rescues Hostages After Kaduna Church Attack Incident

Nigeria's army announced on Sunday that it successfully rescued 31 civilians who had been taken hostage during a violent attack on a church in northwest Kaduna state. Tragically, five people were discovered dead at the scene following the assault, highlighting the severity of the incident.

The attack occurred during an Easter church service in Ariko village, located within the Kachia local government area. The army confirmed that troops were actively pursuing the attackers to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of the community.

Caleb Maaji, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for Kaduna state, confirmed that the violence involved two churches in Ariko village. He reported that seven people lost their lives and several others were taken hostage, although the total number of hostages remains unknown.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the attack while coordinating rescue and relief operations for affected families. The swift intervention by the army helped prevent the situation from escalating further and brought immediate attention to the ongoing threat in the region.

Residents of Ariko village expressed shock and fear following the attacks, calling for stronger security measures to protect places of worship, especially during significant religious celebrations like Easter. Local leaders have urged the government to take urgent steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
