Christian Terrorists Arrested In Plateau Must Face Justice Fully

Men of Operation Enduring Peace, a security operation by the Nigerian Army, reportedly arrested nine suspected militia members linked to targeted killings in Plateau State. The arrests were said to have taken place on Saturday, 18th April 2026, during a security operation in Riyom Local Government Area. Soldiers also recovered several dangerous weapons and ammunition from the suspects.

According to reports, eight of the suspects were identified as Gyang Dantoro, Samson Davou, Choji Yakubu, Vincent Adamu, Pam Dalyop, Femi Badung, Jacob Musa, and Choji Chaga. They were described as Berom indigenes and residents of Danwal. Security officers also recovered three motorcycles, one pistol, one submachine gun, one rifle, one locally made revolver, 20 rounds of pistol ammunition, and one locally fabricated rifle.

Reacting to the development, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) said the matter must not be ignored or hidden. The group praised the Nigerian Army for carrying out the operation and stressed that the suspects must face the full wrath of the law if found guilty. MURIC said justice must be allowed to take its full course without interference.

The statement was released by MURIC's Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Tuesday, 21st April 2026. He expressed serious concern over the type of weapons recovered, especially the submachine gun, saying it showed the level of danger posed by the suspects and the need for urgent action from security agencies.

MURIC said it had long believed that some Christian Berom groups in Plateau State were involved in terrorist activities against Muslim communities. The organization pointed to past discoveries of illegal arms factories in places like Heipang District in Barkin Ladi, Mangu Local Government Area, Vom in Jos South, and Pakachi Village as evidence of a growing security threat in the state.

The group warned against any attempt to cover up the arrests or stop the legal process. It insisted that the case must be taken to court and handled fairly without political or religious bias. MURIC added that Nigerians are watching closely and called on the authorities to ensure justice is served for the safety and peace of everyone in Plateau State.
