Saudi Arabia Removes Thousands of Dangerous Mines Across Yemen

Saudi Arabia's Masam Project has continued its efforts to make Yemen safer by removing dangerous explosive devices from different parts of the country. During the past week, demining teams successfully cleared 1,609 explosives from several Yemeni regions.

According to the latest report, the removed explosives included 1,584 unexploded ordnances, 21 anti-tank mines, and four anti-personnel mines. These deadly devices were left in different locations and posed serious risks to innocent civilians.

Many of the explosives were planted without regard for public safety, putting children, women, and elderly people in danger. Such hidden threats can cause injuries or deaths long after conflicts have ended.

The demining operations were carried out in several areas, including Marib, Aden, Jouf, Shabwa, Taiz, Hodeidah, Lahij, Sanaa, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, and Saada. These efforts are helping communities return to normal life.

Since the launch of the Masam Project in 2018, teams have removed a total of 564,339 mines and explosive devices across Yemen. In May alone, 6,323 dangerous items were successfully cleared from affected areas.

The project also trains local demining engineers, provides modern equipment, and supports people injured by explosives. Through KSrelief, Saudi Arabia continues to improve civilian safety, reopen roads and schools, and help Yemenis live in a safer environment.
