Deadly Gas Cylinder Explosion Kills Thirteen In Karachi

A devastating gas cylinder explosion has claimed the lives of thirteen people in Karachi, Pakistan. Among the victims were seven children, including a two-year-old toddler, according to police official Summaiya Syed. The tragic incident has left the local community in deep shock and mourning.

The explosion occurred on the first floor of a multi-storey residential building located in Soldier Bazaar, a densely populated neighborhood in the eastern part of the city. The powerful blast triggered the collapse of the building, trapping residents beneath the rubble.

Authorities confirmed that the cylinder exploded inside the compound, causing significant structural damage. Police stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast and whether negligence or a technical fault was involved.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion. Rescue workers managed to pull more than a dozen injured residents from the debris, while fears remain that additional victims could still be trapped under the collapsed structure.

Residents of the neighborhood joined first responders in clearing rubble and searching desperately for survivors. The combined efforts of emergency teams and volunteers continued for hours as they worked through the wreckage.

Nearby hospitals reported receiving numerous casualties. Medical personnel worked tirelessly to provide urgent treatment to the injured, some of whom were said to be in critical condition.

The tragedy comes just months after a massive fire at a Karachi shopping mall in January that killed more than 70 people. In that incident, many victims had taken shelter inside a store during a stampede in the early stages of the fire, which investigators said broke out as shop owners were closing for the day. Authorities are now urging the public to exercise extreme caution when using gas appliances to prevent further disasters.
