Iranian officials have repeatedly denied Western accusations regarding their role in recent military escalations, insisting that Tehran has not been the aggressor in the latest round of hostilities. According to statements from Iranian authorities, the United States and Israel initiated coordinated air and missile strikes against military and strategic targets inside Iran, which Tehran has described as "unprovoked."

The reported military action, widely linked by foreign governments to fears over Iran's nuclear aspirations and regional influence, has been framed by Iranian leaders as unjustified and illegitimate. Tehran's narrative emphasizes that diplomatic channels were still active and that Iran had not undertaken any offensive operations that would justify such an assault.

In the midst of these tensions, Iran's newly declared Supreme Leader, Alireza Arafa, issued a forceful statement rejecting Western claims that the strikes were necessary preventive responses to a supposed imminent nuclear threat. Arafa accused Western powers of using the idea of a nuclear threat as a pretext to rationalize the attack, dismissing such assertions as arrogance rather than fact.

"They brandish the nuclear specter like a scarecrow, blinded by their arrogance," Arafa said, articulating Tehran's position that the nuclear threat narrative is exaggerated and exploited for geopolitical ends.

Iran's broader response reflects longstanding denial of ambitions to build nuclear weapons, even as Western officials have labeled Tehran's nuclear and missile programs as destabilizing risks to regional and global security.

The clash has intensified debates over international law, with critics of the U.S.-Israeli strikes calling them unlawful and not supported by clear evidence of an imminent threat, while some global actors have urged de-escalation and a renewed focus on diplomacy.

At the heart of this confrontation lies a profound disagreement: Western powers argue pre-emptive measures were justified to counter potential nuclear and missile threats, while Iranian leaders dismiss these claims as unfounded and politically motivated.
