The Foundation for Peace Professionals (PeacePro) has issued a serious warning that a possible third world war could cause the deaths of more than 500 million people worldwide. According to the organization, the destructive power of modern weapons—especially nuclear arms—makes a future global conflict far more dangerous than previous wars. Their warning comes as tensions increase in the Middle East due to the ongoing confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

PeacePro released the warning in a strategic report titled "Global Escalation of Warfare and Projected Human Cost of a Potential World War III." The report was authorized by the organization's Executive Director, Abdulrazaq Hamzat. It examines historical patterns of warfare and shows that each global conflict has become significantly more deadly than the one before it.

The report highlights the devastating casualties of the two previous global wars. World War I, fought between 1914 and 1918, resulted in roughly 10 to 20 million deaths. Only 21 years later, World War II erupted between 1939 and 1945, claiming about 50 to 70 million lives. This dramatic increase in casualties was largely caused by advances in military technology and the growing involvement of civilian populations in warfare.

Hamzat explained that history clearly shows how every major war becomes more destructive than the last. The report stresses that the world has now entered a new and far more dangerous era because of nuclear weapons. Even the atomic bombs dropped in 1945 had explosive power of around 15 kilotons, but today's nuclear warheads are far stronger.

PeacePro noted that modern nuclear weapons can range from hundreds of kilotons to several megatons. For example, the most powerful nuclear device ever tested, the Tsar Bomba by the Soviet Union, had a yield of about 50 megatons—making it more than 3,000 times stronger than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. In addition, modern missiles can carry multiple nuclear warheads, allowing a single missile to strike several cities at once.

The report also connects these dangers to current geopolitical tensions. The ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has already involved airstrikes, drone attacks, and missile launches across different areas of the Middle East. Analysts warn that if more countries become involved, the situation could escalate into a much wider international confrontation.

PeacePro further warned that a global war today could cause catastrophic humanitarian consequences. Deaths could occur not only from military attacks but also from radiation exposure, collapse of food and energy systems, economic breakdown, and mass displacement of people. Scientists also warn that nuclear warfare could trigger a "nuclear winter," where smoke and debris block sunlight and severely damage global agriculture.

The organization therefore urges world leaders to prioritize diplomacy and international cooperation. Strengthening nuclear arms control agreements, expanding dialogue between nations, and reducing geopolitical tensions are critical steps to prevent disaster. PeacePro concluded that avoiding another world war must remain a top priority for humanity, as a nuclear-age conflict could become the greatest tragedy in human history. 🌍⚠️
