Officials from Hamas are expected to meet with mediators in Egypt on Wednesday to discuss ways of moving the Gaza ceasefire process forward. The talks come at a time when violence continues in Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in place since October. Both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of breaking the terms of the truce.

The discussions will involve Egyptian mediators as well as representatives from Qatar and Turkey. According to Hamas officials, the mediators have suggested new ideas and proposals that could help both sides reach a more acceptable agreement and reduce tensions in the region.

The Hamas delegation will be led by chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya. Representatives from other Palestinian groups are also expected to attend the meetings in Egypt. Hamas believes that progress can be achieved if both parties show genuine commitment to finding a solution and avoiding new obstacles during negotiations.

One of the biggest challenges in the talks remains the issue of Hamas disarmament. Israel has pushed for Hamas to give up its weapons as part of the next phase of the ceasefire agreement. However, Hamas has stated that it will not accept disarmament under conditions imposed by Israel and insists that any decision regarding its weapons must be part of a broader Palestinian political process.

The negotiations come shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans for the military to take control of 70 percent of the Gaza Strip. Hamas strongly criticized the move, describing it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and expressing disappointment over what it viewed as a lack of international response.

Meanwhile, efforts are also being made to discuss Gaza's reconstruction and future administration. Mediators are reportedly planning meetings concerning the transfer of governance responsibilities to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. Despite these diplomatic efforts, violence continues in the territory, with casualties reported on both sides since the ceasefire began.
