Iranian state media has reported plans for funeral ceremonies following the reported death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to the report, the funeral activities will take place between July 4 and July 9 across several cities in Iran.

The program is expected to begin with a farewell ceremony in Tehran on July 4 and July 5. Thousands of people are anticipated to attend the event to pay their final respects.

Official funeral ceremonies will then be held in Tehran on July 6. Another ceremony is scheduled for July 7 in the holy city of Qom, which holds significant religious importance in Iran.

Reports also state that a funeral ceremony will take place in Mashhad on July 8. The following day, July 9, Khamenei is expected to be laid to rest at the Imam Reza Shrine in the city.

According to the report, Ali Khamenei was killed during US-Israeli strikes against Iran that reportedly began on February 28. The attacks were also said to have resulted in the deaths of several senior military commanders and government officials.

The report further stated that a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire came into effect on April 8. Since then, diplomatic efforts have reportedly continued in an attempt to reach a broader and more lasting agreement.
