The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to multiple abductions across the state, including a suspect reportedly intercepted while wearing a hijab and carrying assorted charms.

The first suspect, identified as Aliyu Isiaka, was arrested by a team of Forest Guards led by Jebrin Adam at Okolowo, Ilorin, on October 24, 2026, at about 6 p.m.

The arrest was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement issued in Ilorin by the command's Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi. According to the statement, Isiaka, a resident of Ga'a-Kpapa village in Moro Local Government Area, was allegedly disguised in female attire and wearing a hijab when he was intercepted with a polythene bag containing assorted charms.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of a nine-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly led by a man identified as Juli, who resides at Fulani Camp, Ga'a-Kpapa, and is currently at large.

The police statement further revealed that Isiaka claimed he was recruited into the gang in August 2026 and had participated in three kidnapping operations in Oloru, Alapa and Malete, where substantial ransom payments were allegedly collected.

Following further investigations and operational coordination, a joint team of police officers and Forest Guards reportedly raided the suspected kidnappers' camp on October 25, 2026.

The operation led to the arrest of two additional male suspects identified as Seriki and Jebrin. Investigations into the alleged kidnapping activities and the possible involvement of other members of the syndicate are expected to continue.
