These holidays are to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which comes at the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This period is very important for Muslims, as it marks the successful completion of fasting and spiritual reflection.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the Federal Government. The message was shared through an official statement released by the Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Tuesday.
In his message, the minister congratulated all Muslims for completing the Ramadan fast successfully. He praised their dedication, patience, and commitment throughout the holy period, which involves fasting, prayers, and acts of charity.
He also encouraged Muslims to continue practicing the good values they learned during Ramadan. These include love, kindness, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice. According to him, these virtues should not end with the fasting period but should continue in everyday life.
