In Makkah, the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases organized a coordination meeting and simulation exercise to prepare for possible animal health risks before the upcoming Hajj season. The goal is to reduce the chances of disease outbreaks that could affect both animals and humans during this important period.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Saudi Arabia Project for the Utilization of Hady and Adahi. It focused on improving teamwork between different government agencies to prevent the spread of animal and zoonotic diseases, which are illnesses that can pass from animals to humans.

During the session, participants discussed their individual roles and responsibilities to ensure a quick and effective response if any health risk occurs. The aim is to make sure that emergency plans are properly understood and can be executed smoothly in real-life situations.

Several key government bodies took part in the simulation, including the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, Makkah Municipality, the Public Health Authority, and the Makkah Health Cluster. Their collaboration is important for managing any possible health emergencies during Hajj.

The simulation exercise was designed to test how ready these organizations are to handle risks at the holy sites. It also helps to identify any weaknesses in current plans so they can be improved before millions of pilgrims arrive.

By putting these preventive measures in place, the center hopes to protect public health and ensure a safe and disease-free environment for all pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj season.
