News / Netanyahu Manipulated Pre-Octo...
Last post by Akinola Kholid - Oct 08, 2026, 07:16 AM
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allegedly altered his official account of security warnings received before the October 2023 Hamas attack, according to an investigation by Yedioth Ahronoth and its sister outlet Ynet.

The investigation compared a 55-page dossier released by Netanyahu in February with original government transcripts, meeting records and official testimonies. It reportedly found significant omissions and changes in wording concerning warnings issued by senior intelligence and security officials before the October 7 attack.

According to the investigation, Netanyahu's document presented him as consistently supporting targeted strikes against senior Hamas commanders, while portraying military and intelligence chiefs as reluctant to take military action and more interested in maintaining calm in Gaza.

However, the original records reportedly provide a different account. They indicate that Netanyahu repeatedly rejected or resisted proposed military initiatives, while maintaining that Hamas had been effectively deterred and that a broader confrontation could be avoided.

The investigation highlighted an April 2023 meeting in which then-Shin Bet director Ronen Bar and then-Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi reportedly recommended targeted strikes against senior Hamas figures in Gaza. Their proposals came months before the October 7 attack and amid growing security concerns.

The findings raise further questions about Netanyahu's handling of intelligence and security warnings before the attack, as well as his subsequent public account of the government's actions. The reported differences between the original records and Netanyahu's February dossier could intensify scrutiny of the prime minister's role and decision-making before the war.

The investigation adds to ongoing public debate in Israel over whether senior officials adequately responded to warnings about Hamas before October 7. It also underscores continuing demands for a full examination of the decisions, intelligence assessments and security failures that preceded the devastating attack.

The initiative is designed to give customers and everyday Nigerians access to the major investment opportunity through an authentic non-interest financial channel.

The partnership is being positioned as an opportunity for Nigerians to participate in long-term wealth creation while observing Islamic finance principles. Through the arrangement, eligible investors can subscribe to the Dangote Refinery IPO using a structure presented as compliant with established Shariah requirements.

Ethica has also addressed questions surrounding the non-interest eligibility of the Dangote Refinery IPO. The company said the offer meets established non-interest finance standards and has received relevant advisory endorsements supporting its Shariah-compliant status.

Sodiq Oyeleke, Ethica's Head of Marketing, Communications, and Partnerships, said the partnership reflects the company's commitment to financial inclusion and ethical wealth creation. He emphasized that the arrangement provides additional assurance for Muslims who want to participate in the investment opportunity.

According to Oyeleke, the offering was reviewed by Ethica's Advisory Committee of Experts and certified by FRACE, a Shariah advisory body involved in Islamic finance regulation in Nigeria. The certification is intended to provide greater clarity for Muslim investors considering participation in the IPO.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO is expected to become a major milestone in Africa's capital market. The offering is targeting approximately ₦2.15 trillion, making it the largest public equity issuance in Africa to date, according to the information provided.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has criticised Nigeria's position on Palestine during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), saying the country failed to mention the Palestinian question in its national position. The organisation also expressed concern over Nigeria's decision not to join dozens of delegations that walked out when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the General Assembly on September 24, 2026.

MURIC Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, made the criticism in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26. According to the organisation, Nigeria's position at the international gathering was regrettable, particularly given the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the international attention surrounding the Palestinian issue.

The group said Nigeria's national statement did not include Palestine, while its delegation remained during Netanyahu's speech. Reports from the UNGA confirmed that dozens of delegations left the chamber as the Israeli prime minister began his address, making the walkout one of the prominent moments of the session.

MURIC also highlighted the humanitarian situation in Gaza, referring to the large number of Palestinians reported killed and wounded since the conflict began. The organisation said the destruction of homes and damage to essential services have created severe challenges for civilians, including women and children.

The group further called attention to shortages and difficulties affecting Gaza's population, including access to food, water, electricity, healthcare and education. The United Nations has separately continued to raise concerns about humanitarian conditions and the situation of Palestinian refugees, including the funding difficulties facing UNRWA.

MURIC urged Nigerians concerned about human rights and international justice to demand greater accountability from the Federal Government over its approach to the Palestinian question. It also called on Nigerian human rights organisations to publicly discuss the country's position and its implications for Nigeria's foreign policy.

The controversy comes as other Nigerian groups have also questioned the absence of Palestine from Nigeria's UNGA statement. The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, similarly criticised the omission and called for a more public Nigerian position on Palestine.

News / Türkiye Condemns Israeli Group...
Last post by Akinola Kholid - Sep 27, 2026, 10:57 PM
Türkiye has strongly condemned the reported storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem by extremist Israeli groups, who were accompanied by Israeli occupation forces. Ankara described the incident as a serious provocation involving one of Islam's most important holy sites.

In a statement, Türkiye's Foreign Ministry expressed concern over what it described as continued violations and provocations targeting Muslim holy places. The ministry said such actions could contribute to rising tensions across the region.

The Turkish government also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government of taking actions that could further undermine regional peace and stability. Ankara said provocations involving Muslim holy sites risk making efforts toward de-escalation more difficult.

Türkiye called on the international community to respond to what it described as Israeli practices that violate the established historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. It urged international actors to take measures aimed at preventing further incidents at the holy site.

The statement comes amid continued international concern over tensions surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque and the wider Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The compound remains a particularly sensitive site, with developments there frequently drawing strong reactions from Muslim-majority countries.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is located in the Old City of Jerusalem and is regarded as the third-holiest site in Islam, after the Kaaba in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. Its status and access remain among the most sensitive issues connected to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Türkiye's latest statement reiterates Ankara's position that the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque should be respected. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the international community should take steps to prevent further provocations and support efforts toward peace and stability in the region.

Crime / Jigawa Hisbah Arrests Eight Ov...
Last post by Mahmud - Sep 27, 2026, 09:59 PM
The Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has arrested eight people over allegations of same-sex acts following a complaint from a resident of Kazaure town. The case reportedly began after the complainant informed authorities that he had allegedly engaged in same-sex acts with nine individuals on different occasions.

According to Hisbah spokesperson Dauda Muhammad Hadejia, the complainant resides in the Kanti area of Kazaure. He reportedly told officials that he later tested positive for HIV and attributed the infection to the alleged encounters. However, the reported connection between the alleged acts and the HIV diagnosis remains an allegation and would require medical and legal evidence to establish.

Following the complaint, Hisbah operatives reportedly launched an investigation and began searching for the nine individuals named by the complainant. The investigation resulted in the arrest of eight suspects, according to the authorities and reports on the incident.

The development has attracted attention because Hisbah authorities in parts of northern Nigeria regularly address conduct they consider contrary to Islamic teachings and applicable state laws. The precise legal circumstances surrounding the latest case, including any potential charges, are expected to become clearer as the investigation progresses.

Dr Hussain Yusuf Baban, Deputy Commander-General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Corps, urged parents to pay greater attention to the upbringing of their children. He also encouraged members of the public to remain conscious of their actions and to fear God.

The Jigawa case follows previous incidents in which Hisbah authorities in northern Nigeria investigated allegations involving same-sex acts. In 2020, Hisbah officials in Dutse reportedly arrested two men following a dispute connected to an alleged same-sex encounter, before the suspects were handed over to police for further investigation.

The latest incident involves eight suspects, according to reports attributed to Daily Trust. The authorities are expected to continue investigating the allegations and determine the appropriate legal steps. Until the investigation or court proceedings establish the facts, the accusations against the suspects remain allegations rather than proven findings.

News / Iran Warns War Could Expand Ac...
Last post by Abdulwahid - Sep 25, 2026, 12:45 AM
Iran has warned that any fresh military attack by the United States or Israel could widen the ongoing conflict beyond the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, potentially reaching the Indian Ocean and other areas. Major-General Yahya Rahim Safavi, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, issued the warning in a video released by Iran's semi-official Fars news agency.

Safavi said Iran had prepared for a possible renewed offensive and suggested that the geographical scope of the conflict could expand if hostilities resume. According to his remarks, a new front could emerge around the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a strategically important waterway connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the wider Indian Ocean.

The Iranian military adviser also referred to Yemen's Houthi movement while warning about possible developments around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. His comments come amid continued tensions surrounding major maritime routes in the region, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, where disruptions have raised concerns about international shipping and energy supplies.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a central issue in the confrontation between Tehran and Washington. Iran has indicated that it could reopen the waterway if US military pressure and the naval blockade are eased. Reuters reported that Iranian officials had also conveyed proposals through diplomatic channels concerning the reopening of the strategically important route.

The latest warning followed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Pezeshkian strongly criticized US policy toward Iran and defended Tehran's actions, while also leaving the door open to diplomacy. He said Iran was prepared for dialogue and negotiations but rejected talks conducted under military pressure.

Pezeshkian also addressed the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran would not accept the waterway being used in ways Tehran considers harmful to its security. His comments came as US and Iranian representatives continued diplomatic contacts in New York, with discussions reportedly focused on conditions for ending hostilities and restoring maritime access.

Safavi's reference to the Indian Ocean adds another dimension to the already tense situation, although his statement represents a warning of what could happen if new attacks occur rather than confirmation that Iran has opened a new front there. With the Strait of Hormuz, Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb all strategically important to global shipping, further escalation could have consequences well beyond the immediate conflict zone. Diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran therefore remain closely watched as both sides continue to exchange threats while discussing possible negotiations.
