Five Metropolitan Police officers have been removed from duty after a bag filled with weapons was found outside the home of Sadiq Khan in south London. The incident raised serious security concerns because the weapons were reportedly left by officers assigned to protect the mayor. Authorities quickly began an internal investigation to understand how such a dangerous mistake happened.

According to reports, the bag contained several weapons, including an MP5 semi-automatic carbine, a Glock pistol, a Taser, and ammunition. These weapons are usually handled only by trained armed officers and are meant for official security operations. Leaving them unattended in a public place created a serious safety risk for residents and passersby in the area.

The weapons were discovered by a member of the public named Jordan Griffiths, who immediately contacted the police after seeing the bag. He explained that he was shocked when he saw the firearms and took pictures as evidence before calling the authorities. Within a few minutes, police officers arrived at the scene and quickly secured the weapons to prevent any danger.

The Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that the incident happened around 9:40 pm after receiving a call from the public. Officers arrived at the location within seven minutes and safely recovered the bag and its contents. The police stated that the weapons were believed to have been accidentally left behind by on-duty officers shortly before they were discovered.

Authorities also announced that an urgent internal review has started to investigate the incident. Police officials admitted that the situation could cause public concern and assured citizens that steps are being taken to understand what went wrong. The case has been referred to the police's Directorate of Professional Standards for further investigation.

A spokesperson for Mayor Sadiq Khan described the situation as very serious and stressed that such an incident should never happen again. The five officers involved have been suspended from duty while investigations continue, and officials are working to ensure stronger safety and security procedures in the future.
