Saudi Arabia has successfully launched its new satellite called Shams into space. The Saudi Space Agency confirmed that the satellite was launched and communication with it was established successfully. The satellite was sent into space aboard the Space Launch System as part of the Artemis II mission, making this a historic achievement for the Kingdom and the Arab world.

With this success, Saudi Arabia has become the first Arab nation to take part in the historic Artemis program. This global space initiative aims to improve scientific innovation, strengthen international partnerships, and help shape the future of space exploration for humanity. The program is expected to open new doors for research, technology, and cooperation among nations.

The Artemis II mission is the second phase of the program led by NASA in partnership with several international organizations. The mission plans to send humans near the moon for the first time in more than 50 years. Four astronauts will travel aboard the Orion spacecraft, powered by the powerful Space Launch System rocket, which is considered one of the strongest rockets ever built.

The Shams satellite is part of the mission's scientific payload and will orbit the Earth in a special path between 500 km and 70,000 km above the planet. This orbit will allow the satellite to monitor solar activity and radiation in space. The data collected will help scientists better understand space weather and improve research related to solar energy and radiation effects on Earth.

Shams is a major milestone because it is the first Arab satellite to be launched under the Artemis program and the first Saudi mission focused on space weather monitoring. The satellite was designed and developed by Saudi engineers and experts with support from the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program, which is part of the Kingdom's Saudi Vision 2030 plan to grow technology and innovation.

The main goal of the Shams mission is to study space weather and observe how solar radiation affects Earth. The satellite will focus on four key areas: space radiation, solar X-rays, Earth's magnetic field, and high-energy solar particles. This mission will help scientists improve space research, protect satellites, and support future space exploration, including possible missions to Mars.
