Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 31 worshippers who were abducted by terrorists during an Easter church service in Ariko Village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The rescue operation followed a distress call reporting that terrorists attacked an ECWA Church during the Easter celebration and kidnapped several worshippers.

According to a statement released on Sunday, the soldiers quickly mobilized to the area immediately after receiving the report. With the help and guidance of members of the Ariko community, the troops moved into the village and began pursuing the fleeing terrorists to stop the attack and rescue the victims.

During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a serious gun battle and overpowered them with stronger firepower. The heavy pressure from the advancing soldiers forced the terrorists to abandon 31 hostages, including one injured victim who was immediately taken for medical treatment.

Sadly, the soldiers also recovered the bodies of five worshippers who had already been killed by the terrorists at the scene of the attack. Blood trails along the escape routes showed that several of the terrorists were seriously injured during the firefight as they ran away from the troops.

The Nigerian Army said it has intensified efforts to track down the fleeing terrorists and locate their hideouts. More troops have been deployed to the area to strengthen security, rescue any remaining captives, and prevent further attacks on innocent civilians and religious centers.

The Army also reassured Nigerians of its commitment to protecting lives and property across the country. Citizens were encouraged to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and reliable information, as community cooperation is important in achieving lasting peace and security in Nigeria.
