Adamawa Pilgrims Lament Harsh Saudi Conditions Despite Huge Hajj Payments

Several pilgrims from Adamawa State have cried out over alleged poor treatment and difficult living conditions in Saudi Arabia despite reportedly paying over ₦8.3 million each for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

In a video circulating online, some affected pilgrims claimed they were abandoned without proper accommodation, forcing them to sleep outside under harsh weather conditions while battling severe mosquito infestations. Their emotional complaints have triggered widespread outrage among Nigerians, many of whom questioned how such suffering could occur after paying such a huge amount for the sacred journey.

The situation has also renewed concerns about the welfare, coordination, and management of Nigerian pilgrims during Hajj operations, particularly regarding accommodation, transportation logistics, and accountability from officials overseeing the pilgrimage exercise.

As public reactions continue to grow, many Nigerians are demanding an immediate investigation and urgent intervention to protect the safety, comfort, and dignity of the affected pilgrims.
