Iran has claimed that about 220 American soldiers and commanders were killed or injured during retaliatory military strikes carried out in the last 24 hours. The statement came from an Iranian Army spokesman, who said the attacks were a response to recent military actions against Iran. According to Iranian officials, the strikes targeted several United States military positions and assets in the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said that 21 American service members were killed during an attack on the US Navy's Fifth Fleet base located in Bahrain. He also reported that several other American personnel were injured during the same operation.

Zolfaghari further stated that nearly 200 US military personnel were either killed or wounded in another strike targeting Al Dhafra Air Base, a major American military installation in the region. The base is an important center for US air operations in the Middle East, making it a strategic target in the conflict.

In addition to military bases, Iranian forces reportedly targeted an oil tanker owned by the United States in the northern part of the Persian Gulf. Iranian officials said the attack was part of a wider retaliation campaign aimed at American military and economic interests.

The United States has also confirmed that a major radar system used for missile defense was destroyed during the attacks. The radar, valued at about $300 million, was located at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan and was part of the THAAD missile defense system used to detect and track incoming threats.

The latest escalation follows renewed military tensions that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel allegedly launched attacks on Iran and its nuclear facilities. Iranian authorities say those strikes caused the deaths of many civilians and military leaders. In response, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against Israeli-controlled areas and US military bases, while insisting that it only targets US and Israeli interests and respects the sovereignty of other countries in the region.
