Borno Governor Zulum Optimistic Boko Haram Insurgency Will End

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, in his Easter message, expressed optimism about the eventual end of the Boko Haram insurgency. He highlighted the importance of religious harmony and unity among the people of the state while reaffirming his administration's dedication to peace and welfare programs.

Governor Zulum emphasized that his administration remains committed to sustaining peace in Borno State. He called for continued cooperation among communities to strengthen harmony and ensure that counterinsurgency efforts lead to lasting security for all residents.

In his message, issued through his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor extended warm Easter greetings to Christians in Borno State and beyond. He described Easter as a sacred period that symbolizes sacrifice, forgiveness, and love, values that encourage peaceful coexistence among citizens.

"It is heartening to observe the level of religious harmony between Christians and Muslims in the state," Governor Zulum said. "I urge all residents to sustain this spirit as we continue deliberate steps toward achieving lasting peace."

The governor commended traditional rulers, religious leaders, and security personnel—including the Nigerian Armed Forces, Civilian Joint Task Force members, hunters, and vigilantes—for their contributions to peace and recent gains in counterinsurgency operations. He encouraged leaders to keep promoting unity and tolerance across communities.

Reaffirming his administration's commitment to citizens' welfare, Governor Zulum noted that over 300,000 families have benefited from expanded palliative distributions. He emphasized that these initiatives are designed to ease economic hardships while fostering social cohesion and community stability.
