The administration of Donald Trump has reportedly canceled an $11 million contract with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami. This organization has been providing shelter, care, and support for migrant children entering the United States without parents or guardians.

The decision comes during rising tensions between Trump and Pope Leo, the head of the Catholic Church. Their disagreement is linked to global political issues, including differing views on the war in Iran and foreign policy matters.

Trump has publicly criticized the Pope, calling him "weak on crime" and "terrible for foreign policy." The situation became more controversial after Trump shared an image on social media portraying himself as Jesus Christ, which drew strong criticism from many people.

Archbishop Thomas Wenski expressed concern about the decision, describing it as confusing and disappointing. He explained that the charity has been helping vulnerable migrant children since the 1960s and has built a strong reputation for quality care across the country.

Wenski added that the organization's services for unaccompanied minors are highly respected and have even served as a model for similar programs nationwide. However, with the funding removed, the charity may be forced to shut down its operations within three months, leaving many children without support.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement, under the Department of Health and Human Services, said the decision was due to a decrease in the number of migrant children entering the country alone. Still, experts warn that relocating these children could cause serious emotional and psychological harm, especially for younger kids who need stability and care.
