RT Arabic officially opened its first studio in Riyadh on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in Saudi-Russian media cooperation. The launch of "Studio Riyadh" coincided with the centennial celebration of diplomatic relations between the two nations, signaling a new chapter in their partnership through enhanced media engagement.

The new program will air twice a month and forms part of a broader series of analytical shows broadcast from major global capitals. Similar editions include "Studio Cairo," "Studio Beirut," "Studio Washington," and "Studio Paris," all focusing on regional and international developments. The Riyadh edition will be hosted by veteran Saudi journalist Mohammed Al-Rashed, who brings over two decades of professional experience to the platform.

During the inauguration, Russia's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sergey Kozlov, reflected on the century-long diplomatic journey between the two countries. He recalled that in 1926, the Soviet Union became the first nation to formally recognize the Kingdom of Hejaz and Najd, laying the foundation for enduring bilateral relations.

Over the decades, these ties have grown into a comprehensive strategic partnership covering energy, agriculture, industry, investment, science, education, culture, media, and humanitarian cooperation. The ambassador emphasized that the relationship is grounded in mutual respect, trust, and a shared vision for future collaboration.

Recent milestones further highlight the strengthening bond, including a mutual visa-exemption agreement signed in December 2025 and expanded direct flights between Moscow and both Riyadh and Jeddah. High-level visits, such as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's 2017 trip to Moscow and President Vladimir Putin's 2019 visit to Riyadh, were also described as pivotal in advancing bilateral cooperation.

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Media, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, attended the event and reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting international media institutions. He stated that Saudi Arabia is eager to provide the necessary services to ensure professional, transparent, and effective media operations.

The inauguration also featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Al Riyadh newspaper and RT, aimed at promoting news exchange and joint training initiatives. The first live episode welcomed Prince Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, who discussed the historical roots of Saudi-Russian relations, their resilience amid geopolitical shifts, and prospects for future cooperation. Established in 2007, RT Arabic has grown into one of the Middle East's most influential Arabic-language news channels.
