Israeli Forces Detain Over Hundred Palestinians During Ramadan

Israeli forces have detained more than 100 Palestinians across the West Bank since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society. Those arrested include women, children, and former prisoners, raising fresh concerns about the scale and timing of the crackdown.

The organization stated that the arrests followed Israel's announcement of intensified security operations during Ramadan. It added that recent settler attacks have coincided with widespread detention campaigns across most West Bank governorates, including Jerusalem.

Many of those detained in Jerusalem have reportedly been barred from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites. The restrictions have heightened tensions during a month that holds deep spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide.

Officials noted that arrest operations are often accompanied by extensive field interrogations. These interrogations, they say, affect broad segments of Palestinian society and are not limited to individuals suspected of specific offenses.

Documented violations linked to the detentions include severe beatings, intimidation campaigns against detainees and their families, and the destruction or looting of homes. Reports also mention confiscation of vehicles, money, and gold, as well as demolitions of family residences and other punitive measures.

The society further alleged that detention campaigns are being used to facilitate the expansion of settlement activity in the West Bank. It claimed that settlers play a central role in shaping what it described as a new imposed reality on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Detainees Affairs Commission detailed the case of Mohammed Wajih Mahamid from Jenin, who it says suffered repeated beatings while in custody. According to the commission, he sustained a serious knee injury in November 2023 and was allegedly beaten again in March 2025, resulting in a fracture. Despite his condition, he was reportedly given only painkillers and denied hospital treatment, highlighting what officials describe as ongoing medical neglect and harsh conditions faced by detainees.
