The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has congratulated former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 89th birthday, describing him as a living legend. The respected monarch praised Obasanjo for his long-standing contributions to Nigeria and the international community.

In a goodwill message issued in Ilorin through his Press Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described the former leader as a patriot and an elder statesman. He noted that Obasanjo has continued to play an influential role in national and global affairs.

Sulu-Gambari stated that Obasanjo is widely recognized as a global citizen who has devoted significant efforts to promoting peace across the world. According to him, the former president has built a remarkable legacy through his consistent advocacy for global harmony and stability.

The Emir also highlighted Obasanjo's achievements as a former Military Head of State and a two-term democratically elected president of Nigeria. He added that the elder statesman is admired for his dedication to nation-building and his efforts in encouraging inter-religious and inter-cultural understanding.

He further appreciated Obasanjo for maintaining a strong relationship with the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State. On behalf of members of the Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, the Emir celebrated the former president and prayed that God would grant him good health, strength, and many more years of comfort and fulfillment.
