Iraq's First Lady, Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, has sent a strong message to the United States, asking it to leave the Kurdish people out of the growing tensions with Iran. In a public statement released from Sulaymaniyah, she said the Kurds should not be dragged into a war that does not concern them. According to her, the Kurdish people do not want to be used as tools by foreign powers.

Ahmed criticized attempts by Washington and Tel Aviv to involve Kurdish groups in a possible ground offensive against Iran. Reports say both governments are trying to recruit Kurdish fighters to take part in the conflict. However, the First Lady clearly rejected the idea, saying the Kurds are "not guns for hire."

Her statement is one of the strongest objections from Iraq's political leadership regarding outside pressure on Kurdish communities. She warned that Kurdish fighters should not be used as proxies in international conflicts. According to her, the Kurdish people have already suffered enough from past wars and political struggles.

Reports also suggest that the Central Intelligence Agency may be working to support Kurdish groups as part of a broader plan to weaken Iran. The effort is reportedly being discussed by officials in the administration of Donald Trump. Some sources say the idea was first pushed by Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel's intelligence agency, the Mossad.

Ahmed also reminded the world of the Kurdish uprising against former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in 1991. She said the Kurds were encouraged to revolt at that time but were later abandoned when the situation became dangerous. According to her, Kurdish fighters were left alone when the Iraqi government used heavy weapons to suppress the uprising.

Experts have also expressed doubts about the plan to support Kurdish groups in a rebellion against Iran. Analysts say Kurdish factions inside Iran currently lack the influence and resources needed for a successful uprising. Some regional observers have warned that such a move could create serious political problems for nearby countries like Türkiye, Syria, and Iraq itself.
