Over 3,500 U.S. troops, including approximately 2,500 Marines aboard the USS Tripoli, have arrived in the Middle East as tensions with Iran escalate. The Tripoli, a modern amphibious warship capable of carrying F-35 stealth fighters and Ospreys, was deployed from Japan following orders issued two weeks ago. Additional ships, including the USS Boxer, and another Marine Expeditionary Unit from San Diego are also en route, reinforcing the region amid ongoing military operations.

Since February 28, Operation Epic Fury has targeted more than 11,000 sites, according to the U.S. Central Command. These operations follow attacks by Iran on Saudi Arabia's Prince Sultan airbase, where at least ten American troops were affected, including two seriously wounded. The deployment aims to provide President Trump with maximum flexibility and military options if the situation worsens, even as officials note that objectives can still be met without extensive ground combat.

The conflict has disrupted global air travel and oil exports, causing fuel prices to rise sharply. Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route, has intensified the economic fallout. Meanwhile, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have claimed involvement in the war, further complicating regional security and adding to global concerns about escalating military engagement.

On the home front, millions of Americans took to the streets to protest against President Trump's policies in what organizers called the "No Kings Day." Over 3,000 demonstrations occurred nationwide, with additional protests reported in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Protesters voiced grievances over authoritarian governance, economic hardship, civil liberties, immigration, abortion restrictions, and the U.S. military campaign in Iran.

Major rallies, including one in Minnesota, drew tens of thousands, with prominent figures and activists speaking on various social and political issues. In Washington, D.C., demonstrators marched past symbolic landmarks, while smaller towns and traditionally conservative areas also saw high turnout. Organizers described the events as a broad-based national movement with increasing global support.

Despite the scale of the protests, the White House dismissed them as politically motivated. Nevertheless, the simultaneous intensification of the Iran conflict and massive domestic demonstrations highlights growing tensions both internationally and within the United States. Analysts warn that the coming weeks could be critical for U.S. foreign policy and internal political stability.
