The Osmanoğlu Association, led by Orhan Osmanoğlu, has opened a new school called the Hamidiye School in Gaza. The project was created to support children and families facing difficult living conditions in the region. The school is also part of ongoing educational and humanitarian efforts connected to Turkish charitable activities in Palestine.

During the opening ceremony, portraits of Sultan Abdülhamid II and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were displayed inside the school building. The images attracted attention because they represented both historical and modern Turkish connections to Palestine and Gaza.

According to Turkish media reports, including Yeni Şafak, the Hamidiye School project was designed to provide education and hope for children affected by hardship and conflict. The organisers explained that education remains important for preserving the future of young Muslims in Gaza despite ongoing challenges.

The project also reflects growing interest among some Turkish cultural and heritage organisations in strengthening old Ottoman-era relationships with Palestine. Many supporters believe these historical ties remain meaningful today, especially in areas connected to Islamic history and Muslim unity.

The portrait of Sultan Abdülhamid II symbolised the Ottoman Empire's historical relationship with Jerusalem and Palestine. Many Muslims remember him for his support of Islamic lands and his opposition to foreign control over Palestinian territories during his rule. Because of this, his image is often connected with Islamic unity and historical remembrance.

The portrait of President Erdoğan represented modern Türkiye's political and humanitarian support for Palestinians. Under his leadership, Türkiye has supported many projects in Palestinian areas through organisations such as Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and Turkish aid agencies. President Erdoğan has also spoken strongly about protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque and supporting Palestinian rights during international meetings and diplomatic discussions.
